Time and Our Lives
Our lives are to a large extent are defined by time. It is what we rely on to build a future that calls for that delicate balance that shapes us.
Time is a vital commodity in our lives. Our lives are a lot more than the consequences of the impact of time on them. We are born in a particular season whether winter, spring, summer, or fall. We manifest time through babyhood, childhood, adolescence, womanhood, manhood, or as senior citizens. Still, many contend that from birth to the grave, there is not enough time, although it is measured in seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, years, etc, for all to keep track of. Coming to think about it, there will always be such concerns, since we live relatively short lives of no more that 80 to 90 years, although there are those fortunate persons (depending on how you look at it) that live well into their hundreds.
We need time to gain in skills
It takes time to develop skills. A highly educated person or skilled tradesman generally spends many years perfecting his craft. It takes from 12 to 16 years to make it from grade school to college in order to earn a bachelor’s degree. If a student decides to study for a Ph.D. or an M.D. it could take an additional six years. That is providing all his course work goes as planned – meaning if he passes every course and his comprehensive examinations and has no health issues.
Artists are a different matter, a musician, painter, or sculptor may take years to develop to his full potential. Some may not even accomplish their goal. For example, there are some authors that have spent as long as ten years working on a manuscript only to have it rejected many times before being accepted for publication.
It takes time to heal wounds
Many that are sick know this too well. They have to be treated by a physician and sometimes that treatment may take years. It calls not only for time but patience, faith, and persistence for a person to heal. Healing may be physical or psychological, nevertheless they are still healing. Of concern are those that fight for our liberties and those of others in far away countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Some of these brave men return with amputations and PTS syndrome. They are rehabilitated in hospitals for veterans inn different states around the nation.
A person has to be sensible about how he uses time
